§ 113-500. Statutory authorization and purpose.

  • (a)

    Statutory authorization. The legislature of the state has, in Minn. Stats. ch. 462, delegated the responsibility to local government units to adopt regulations designed to minimize flood losses.

    (b)

    Statement of purpose.

    (1)

    The city wishes to establish eligibility in the National Flood Insurance Program and in order to do so must meet the requirements of 44 CFR Part 60.3(a)

    (2)

    The city wishes to minimize potential losses due to periodic flooding including loss of life, loss of property, health and safety hazards, disruption of commerce and governmental services, extraordinary public expenditures for flood protection and relief, and impairment of the tax base, all of which adversely affect the public health, safety and general welfare.
